Devon V Cornwall Run
After a successful first year in which Devon won the border, the Sweatshop Devon V Cornwall Run Series returns for 2012/13. Choose your allegiance and battle it out with your brethren to find the champion county and claim victory over the border. Please read the full description of the event below, even if you ran in 2011/12 events and enter above or by downloading the entry form.
Round One went well, there’s a quick write up and results here!
If anyone has any photos or comments then check out our Spike Events Facebook Page
Round Two is a longer but more gentile 10 mile run along the Rame peninsula to Cawsand and back. It’s a fantastic coastal run route with plenty of support along the way. Last year saw our fastest runner clinch this in just over an hour.
All runs are fully supported. There’s also a prize for the fastest runner down the monstrous grass slope at the start.
The race will be run under UKA rules and there will be a Run England race referee on duty during the race.
10Mile Devon V Cornwall – January 27th 2013

Event Details… (no confirmation emails are sent so please use this information)
Venue
The race will be held in front of Mount Edgcumbe Country House, Cremyll, Torpoint, Cornwall, PL10 1HZ. The HQ for the event is located in stables cafe adjacent to the house (up the top of the hill).
Getting there
From Plymouth – follow the signs to Torpoint and hop on the Torpoint ferry. From Torpoint follow the A374 towards Liskeard and at Antony follow the brown tourist signs on the left to Mt. Edgcumbe. Alternatively, head for the Cremyll ferry and take a leisurely pootle over – this is by far the best way of getting to the race.
From Cornwall – on A39, after Liskeard heading for Plymouth, follow A374 for Torpoint from the Trerulefoot roundabout. Again, at Antony, follow brown signs on the right to Mt. Edgcumbe.
Once at Mt. Edgcumbe, follow the signage to registration which is in the stable cafe adjacent to the main house.
Parking
There are a number of public car parks around the country park. They are well marked and will have additional signage on race day. There is a shuttle service run from the furthest car parks to the house. The car parks are run by Cornwall Council and are £3.60 per day.
Changing
There will be no changing facilities on site, but secure baggage storage will be available at the registration.
Toilets
There are public toilets at the Cremyll public car park and at the registration.
Start time
Start time is 11-00am prompt. The start line is outside Mt Edgcumbe house.
Registration
Registration will be held in the Stable Cafe and will be open from 0900.
Pre-entered runners will have a fast-track number collection on the day. There will be entries available on the day at £20 which is a little steep but save yourself the bother and pre-enter!
Numbers are to be collected on the day.
There isn’t a goody bag or free t-shirts this year, we are working hard to keep the entry fee down and put on a good quality running experience. Sweatshop will be at the event, they usually have some vouchers to hand out.
Marshals / first aid / drink station.
There will be marshals at each of the road crossings. Please obey all marshal instructions for your own safety.
First aid will be provided by St John Ambulance and they will be based in the start / finish area. Please record any medical conditions on the reverse of your race number.
There will be manned drink stations on route with supplies of water, basic first aid and maybe even some jelly babies
Course details.
The route will follow the popular routes of 2011/12.
The course will be marked with arrows which will be either on stakes or on trees.
There will be distance markers at each mile.
If you find a gate that doesn’t have a marshal at it, please leave the gate as you find it.
Finish.
At the finish your number must be visible and you must wear a vest or t-shirt. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification. Your time / position will be recorded manually and electronically.
Results.
The results will be posted at the event. Full results will be posted here the following morning.
Prizes.
Downhill dominator – there will be a special prize for the first runner down the hill from the start line.
Prize giving will be when all the runners are finished and back at the registration area.
There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd trophies for senior men / women and veteran men / women.
We’ll have medals for runners after the January event.
At both rounds the winning county will again feast on cake.
Please read terms and conditions before entering as no refunds can be given.
