Kinesis UK present Hell of the West

September 30th, Parke Estate, Devon.

The KinesisUK Hell of the West Sportive offers 100km of trails, moorland tracks and a few ‘special’ sections thrown in for good measure will offer a tough but rewarding ride. Dartmoor has some stunning riding, some brutal climbs, fast flowing descents and plenty of great off-road. This event will show off all of the amazing riding that Dartmoor has to offer that’s not just about riding on the road. The terrain is a mix of road and off road so for the more confident rider a cross bike will probably be the best choice, but if you are new to riding off road or you just don’t have a cross bike then a mountain bike will be fine.

KinesisUK are our title sponsor, they’ll be at the event with the new range of Kinesis CX bikes and their new 29er

National Trust are also a key supporter of the event and will be helping to make the event a memorable one.

South West Cyclo-X are behind the event also and will be helping out as well as giving information and offering some kids events on the day in Parke Estate.

Now in it’s third year the Shred Classic has become THE fixture for cycling fans in the Plymouth area. Taking place in the shadow of Sir Francis Drake on Plymouth’s historic waterfront the event clicks up a gear for 2012 as it joins in a massive celebration of cycling with the Skyride.

The team at Spike PR are delighted to welcome Sound Financial Management onboard as the new headline sponsor for the event on May 13th. Sound Financial are the city’s leading firm of Independent Financial Advisors, providing wealth management and employee benefit solutions. Devon Smashes Cornwall in 10K Run!
Devon Vs Cornwall 10K Run, Mt Edgcumbe, Sunday 30th October, 11am.

Over a hundred runners gathered at the the historic Mt Edgcumbe country park yesterday to settle an old score and find out which county was the best over a tough 10K train run. In the end it was Devon that would take the glory with the top five runners all from the East side of the Tamar.

Despite misty and moist conditions 110 runners gathered in the shadow of Mt Edgcumbe house to commence a 10K run that would see not only many personal battles and club rivalries but also had the extra incentive of deciding which county was the best. The run took in a scenic route, after a downhill start from the house to Cremyll, working it’s way uphill to the top of the estate and following the mouth of the Tamar back towards the park’s Orangery. Just how hard the route proved to be was reflected in the fastest times with Senior male winner Alex Lockett completing the run in 41minutes. The fastest female overall was Rebecca Deane.

The county competition was decided based on the average time of both teams. Devon taking the first five spots was always likely to push them ahead and it was to be Cornwall’s undoing as they crept ahead to take the win. The battle may be won for now but the war is definitely not over as runners will return to Mt Edgcumbe on January 29th for a 10mile run that takes in even more of the majestic country park and no doubt Cornwall will attempt to settle the score.

Spike PR launches on November 1st 2011 – a whole four years after the launch of Shred Limited, Spike’s parent business. In that time Shred Limited has grown from a one man operation to a pretty successful little creative agency, specialising in the outdoor market but actually delivering some pretty decent work for clients in all sectors from education to retail and even, randomly, an ‘adult member’s club’ along the way.

Spike’s job is a simple one, to bark pretty loudly about your business activities. We’ll find out who’s interested and then try to make them listen, interact and maybe even spend some money with your business.

Our first priority though is to get some clients, we’ll keep you posted here.
