Editorial

How do I submit editorial?
Most of Shred’s content isn’t written by staff members—it’s written by either professional freelancers or readers who get inspired to write something. Choose to either submit a brief query or a finished article. Emails (keep them short!) to steve@shredlimited.com are the preferred method of communication. We get lots of queries, so don’t expect a quick response time. Be sure to put your contact information on all aspects of your communication. If your  feature has been published in the UK already then we won’t be interested. If we aren’t sure about the idea for the feature then we’ll tell you so.

Do you pay for Articles?
Yes we do, 10p per word.

What about online stuff for Shredmag.com?
We don’t pay for online articles.

You want to write something but you don’t know what?
We like the epic, we like adventure, we like races we could or would never do, we like road trips, we like unusual stuff done by mountain bikers, we like the strange and the beautiful. Most importantly we like a different angle and it has to be either about a mountain biker or by a mountain biker.

Deadlines
Materials deadlines fall approximately four weeks prior to the issue date but we need to know if the feature is coming.

Arty shit

We like art, photos, cartoons, illustrations etc. All are welcome

Usage
Shred assumes all art and photography submitted is designated for use in the magazine. We reserve the right to reprint your art on the web and in promotions and advertisements for Shred and won’t pay extra for that. We only have a small budget for each issue so if you are more interested in seeing your shots printed than getting paid for them then tell us.

Payment
Payment is made once your work is used, not before. Payment takes an age – normally around 60days after the mag is printed but it’s been known to take longer. If you have specific payment requirements contact us BEFORE submitting any work. We pay £20 for a small shot, £40 for a single page shot, £75 for a DPS, £100 for a cover shot. You must send us an invoice with your name, address, tel no, bank details or we can’t pay you.

Sending us your work
We use Macs and that’s all we use so please not strange files. Nice simple Word or Pages docs for text (or just cut n paste it into the email), images please as JPEGS or EPS/Ai files if you are an illustrator.

Return
We don’t return anything so please don’t send us anything original.
